Airtel Money, has signed a partnership with Kenya Power (KPLC) allowing Kenyans to pay for their electricity bills at zero transaction fees via the Airtel Money platform.
Under the deal, Airtel customers can now pay their electricity bills through simple steps – dial USSD code *334# choose Airtel Paybill, then KPLC.
Airtel Money Managing Director Anne-Kinuthia Otieno said this is one of Airtel Money’s initiatives to help cushion Kenyans during these tough economic times and will benefit both the postpaid and prepaid Kenya Power customers for the next six months.
“We are now glad to offer Kenyans this solution where they will enjoy zero transaction cost for the next six months when they make their electricity payments. The cost saving on the charge per transaction will enable customers to utilize their money for other purchases,”
said Airtel Money MD Anne-Kinuthia Otieno.
Commenting on the partnership, Kenya Power Managing Director & CEO Dr. (Eng.) Joseph Siror said;
“we are happy to have Airtel onboard as one of our revenue collection agencies for our postpaid and prepaid customers. This strategic partnership offers our valued customers a seamless payment channel, ensuring enhanced convenience and satisfaction.
After six months of free transaction fees, customers will still be able to pay for their electricity bills at an affordable cost, in line with Airtel’s proposition of providing highly affordable services to its customers.
Airtel Money plans to attract more partnerships with strategic stakeholders to offer Kenyans pocket-friendly and convenient mobile money services.
Other Airtel Money unique benefits include; Sending money between Airtel to Airtel network for free, getting 25 percent extra airtime or data purchased through Airtel Money, and saving up to 40 percent on withdrawal charges at any Airtel Money agent.
