Bamburi Cement Limited has awarded Robert Kinyua Nthiga, a resident of Chuka in Tharaka Nithi county with a 10-ton truck worth Ksh 7 million. Kinyua emerged the winner during the 7th edition of the Zawadi Challenge – an award program by Bamburi to its loyal retailers and distributors across the country – that was held earlier last month in Nairobi.

Robert Kinyua, who owns a hardware by the name Daima Stores in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, beamed with joy when the brand-new Isuzu FRR90 was handed over to him by Bamburi Cement Chief Executive Officer Seddiq Hassani.

“This has come as a sweet surprise and is a great way to start 2020. I am so grateful to Bamburi for recognizing my effort in a special way.”

An elated Kinyua said during the truck handover session at his shop in Chuka town.

Accompanied by his wife and two children, Kinyua narrated how he started off as a hawker in 1996.

“Many will not believe it when I say that I started as a hawker back in 1996 and I had only invested Ksh 120, so today I consider this a reward for my patience over the years and also for my hard work especially in my business relationship with Bamburi Cement,”

said Kinyua.

Kinyua added that he plans to dedicate the new truck to transport Bamburi cement to his customers as well as deliveries to his shop from the Bamburi Cement plants.

“This prize has come at the right time, we were already overwhelmed with our logistics arrangements and so the truck will come in handy to facilitate deliveries to my customers and also for my cement transport from Bamburi,”

he said.

Kinyua further stated that he is keen to work harder for more goodies from Bamburi Cement, a dream well-substantiated considering his seemingly unending streak of success. He is clearly a man blessed with luck, having won a Ksh 20,000 and a school voucher of Ksh 45,000 in a previous Zawadi challenge by Bamburi.
