Safaricom Services To Go Off Air On Sunday

Telecommunications giant Safaricom has announced that some services will be temporarily unavailable on its network on Sunday 22nd March 2020.

The services will be interrupted for six hours due to a scheduled maintenance from 2am to 8am.

The services to be interrupted include; airtime top-ups (including via M-pesa) all product purchases including the purchase of data bundles, voice bundles and SMS bundles.

 

Other services to be interrupted include redemption of Bonga Points, postpaid payments, all balance transfers, all airtime, data bundles and SMS balance inquiries.

According to the Telco, Voice calls and SMS services will not be interrupted. The sscheduled maintenance is said to be in efforts to enhance service delivery by the firm. The Maintenance which will also affect M-Pesa transactions; the region’s most popular mobile money transfer platform comes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Telecommunication services providers Safaricom (M Pesa), Airtel (Airtel Money) and Telkom (TKash) early this week waived fees for Mobile Money transactions below Sh1,000 following the COVID -19 outbreak.
