Celebrations as Malindi Court upholds Governor Kingi win
The High Court in Malindi has today upheld Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi’s win in the August 2017 gubernatorial poll. The petition against Governor Kingiwin in Kilifi according to Judge Weldon Korir in his ruling earlier today, flopped due to insufficient evidence to back claims of poll malpractice. Judge Weldon Korir in his ruling also ordered the petitioner; former Cabinet secretary Kazungu Kambi to pay KSh 4million as compensation for costs incurred during the petition .
Governor Hassan Ali Joho will be at the Mombasa Law Courts tomorrow Thursday 22nd February 2018 for a determination of a petition filed against his win by former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar.
Justice Lydia Achode who is the presiding judge in the petition is expected to deliver a judgement despite numerous attempts by the former senator to abandon the case.
In Lamu, Hon. Twaha’s judgement is expected to be read on March 1, 2018. Justice Dorcas Chepkwony is expected to make a ruling in the petition that was filed by immediate former Lamu Governor Hon. Issa Timamy.
