Farah Maalim fails to oust Aden Duale

The High Court sitting in Nairobi has upheld the election victory of National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale.

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale’s victory was upheld by Justice Hedwig Ongudi this morning following an unsuccessful petition by Farah Maalim. The Judge dismissed Farah Maalim’s bribery claims citing lack of evidence to support the allegations.

Judge Ong’udi in his judgement declared that Hon. Duale was validly elected and that allegations of voter bribery, voter intimidation and cases of voters being denied the opportunity to cast their vote could not be backed up by circumstantial evidence by the petitioner.

The court has ordered petitioner Hon. Maalim to pay Sh 6 million in legal costs.
