Man sustains serious injuries as IED explodes in Nairobi
It was at around 7.30Pm on Saturday evening when the Nairobi City Centre came to a stand still after a huge explosion was heard at the Latema-Tom Mboya streets junction leading to confusion and commotion at the Nairobi Central Business District.
According to witnesses, the IED had been delivered to the area by a trolley pusher who had been hired to deliver the unmarked luggage to Kenya Cinema. A few metres into the walk to the destination, the owner of the unmarked luggage claimed to have forgotten something at their previous location and had to rush back to get it, prompting the trolley pusher to stop at the Odeon cinema area to wait for the ‘client’ to return.
As the trolley pusher waited for the client to come back the luggage exploded. Police and the Kenya bomb squad are already at the scene of the crime tying to look into the incident while securing the area. Sources also claim that the person ferrying the explosive was headed to Kenya Cinema area.
One man was severely injuries and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital accompanied by the Trolley pusher.
