Java House has announced its sponsorship as the catering partner for Kenya’s volleyball teams, Malkia Strikers and Wafalme Stars.
Undertaken through the Java Foundation and the Kenya Volleyball Federation, the agreement will see the leading casual dining restaurant provide meals and refreshments for the decorated team during their training sessions for the next year.
Speaking during the sponsorship announcement, Java House CEO Priscilla Gathungu stated that the sponsorship demonstrates Java’s commitment to supporting local talent and expressed confidence in the teams ahead of their international appearances.
“As a Kenyan-born brand, we recognise the importance of improving the lives of our youth and sports, and more so, professional sports go a long way in doing that. We are also greatly inspired by our sportsmen and women’s continued resilience in international competitions, and we love to see our country’s flag continue to fly high,”
said Ms Gathungu, adding,
“Through this sponsorship, we will be supplementing the team’s meals through their training sessions. The team has proven its worth, guiding Kenya to ten continental titles. We are confident that they will continue to make the country proud.”
The two teams, Malkia Strikers and Wafalme Stars are scheduled to travel to Ghana for the All-Africa Games, which will take place from March 8th to 23rd.
They will then continue to prepare for their participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics, which they earned by winning the African title at last year’s CAVB Africa Women’s Nations Cup.
On his part, the Kenya Volleyball Federation President, Charles Nyaberi, emphasised the importance of sponsorships, stating that the squad is well prepared for the upcoming competitions.
“The teams continue to bring positive attention to the sport, ensuring Kenya shines. As they prepare for intense competition, Java’s assistance will be invaluable in helping the team achieve the best results. Such encouragement motivates our players to perform at their best on and off the court,”
said Nyaberi.
