Kenyan MPs ordered to abandon personal cars and ride in government provided buses

A memo issued on Friday 24th November 2017 by National Assembly clerk Michael Sialai has asked Members of Parliament to ride in buses that the state will provide from Parliament buildings to the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Tuesday 28th November 2017 to avoid congestion and assist officials with protocol issues.

The memo indicated that the buses provided will ferry Members of Parliament to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s inauguration from 7am. The inauguration ceremony is set to begin at 10 am and end in the early hours of the afternoon afternoon.

According to officials in charge of the event, the law makers will use the same mode of transport from the sports centre to State House for a luncheon before they are dropped in the same buses at Parliament buildings where they will pick their cars.

Meanwhile, the MPs are also expected to have been accredited and those without invitation cards and accreditation badges will not be allowed into the VIP area of the event.
