In January 2019, Miguna Miguna released a book on political injustices in Kenya titled; ‘Treason’- . In the book, which he hopes to publicize when he arrives in the country, Miguna tells the story of Raila Odinga’s installation as the People’s President. Miguna Miguna who was deported for participating in the coronation is not new to controversy. He wrote ‘peeling back the mask’ after falling out with Raila Odinga following the Kibaki-Raila joint government.
Miguna was deported twice from Kenya in 2018. At the time of his deportation, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Mataiang’i and the Department of Immigration argued that Miguna had surrendered his Kenyan citizenship when he became a Canadian citizen and needed to apply a fresh for citizenship on landing at JKIA.
Miguna has since his deportation sued the government of Kenya for wrongful deportation and won a court case that awarded him Sh7 million. The government however announced it would challenge the decision of the High court.
