Raila Odinga’s car hit with live bullet as NASA supporters engage police
NASA leader Raila Odinga’s car has allegedly been hit with a live bullet as police tried to block NASA leaders and supporters from accessing Nairobi CBD via Jogoo road. The one million man march took to the streets of Nairobi escorting the leaders via Muthurwa market area as the Nairobi NASA supporters protested being blocked from accessing JKIA to receive ‘the people’s president’ Raila Odinga.
In the scuffle between police and the NASA supporters, Raila Odinga’s windscreen was hit with what eyewitnesses say was a live bullet. It was however unable to penetrate the bullet proof glass. Police have however denied using live bullets on the protesters and the NASA leader, saying the windshield may have been shuttered by a stray teargas canister.
Six NASA supporters have also allegedly been shot by police as a police lorry was torched by the irate supporters. Unconfirmed reports also indicate that four police officers were seriously injured by the mob that allegedly torched the police vehicle.
