Roads Authority Announces 12-day Road Closure in Nairobi

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority has announced disruption of traffic between the China Centre and Prestige Plaza stretch on Ngong road from Monday 25th March 2019 to 5th April 2019. According to KURA (Ag)Director General Engineer Silas Kinoti, the stretch will be partially closed and a diversion lane created as the authority embarks on a 12 day works to rectify defects and improve the road section.

This ideally means that over the next two weeks, users of the road will experience heavy traffic snarl ups especially during rush hour.

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure established by the Kenya Roads Act, 2007 with the core mandate of Management, Development, Rehabilitation and Maintenance of National urban trunk roads.

The Ngong Road Phase 1 dualling (from the Kenya National Library to Prestige Plaza), a 2.57 km stretch is complete, with paved layers of walkways and bicycle lanes as well as traffic signs. Phase two and three are also ongoing.

The project is funded by the Japanese government with the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) overseeing its construction.
