Supreme petition: IEBC kicks out Muite, PLO and Nyamodi
Senior Counsels Paul Muite, Prof PLO Lumumba and Paul Nyamodi have allegedly been axed from the team of lawyers set to represent the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in the fresh petitions challenging the declaration of President Uhuru Kenyatta as president elect in the repeat October 26th presidential election.
Sources close to the poll body indicate that the trio have allegedly been dropped for performing dismally defending the commission in the petition filed by NASA after the August 8th elections. It is said that their lack of proper preparation led to the nullification of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s win by the Supreme court of Kenya.
It is now rumoured that IEBC has picked Senior Counsel Waweru Gatonye who is set to lead a team of eight lawyers, including three other new entrants: Eric Gumbo, Kimani Muhoro and Wambua Kilonzo to appear on behalf of the electoral body.
