The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs and Sports Hon Ababu Namwamba has held talks with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Dr. Salem Ibrahim Al Naqbi, where they discussed areas of mutual interest and collaboration in youth affairs and sports.
CS Ababu assured the Ambassador of Kenya’s readiness to partner with UAE through various exchange programs, towards elevating Kenya’s Sporting industry and in the involvement of the youth in championing for the climate adaptation cause.
“The climate adaptation agenda is a big conversation for Kenya and the whole of the African continent. I invite the UAE to work with Kenya in the 1 million Green Army initiative, to champion for climate change agenda,”
remarked CS Ababu.
He added:
“We will be happy to work with the UAE to deploy our young people to the forefront of the fight against climate change.”
CS Ababu noted that the upcoming Africa Youth Connekt Summit presented a good opportunity for Kenya and UAE to push the African agenda of climate adaptation.
On his Part, Amb. Dr. Alnaqbi expressed confidence in striking a mutually beneficial partnership with the ministry, targeting the upgrading of Kenya’s sports infrastructure by leveraging the expertise and technological advancement of UAE.
“UAE is keen on extending the relationship to support sport development in Kenya. The UAE is committed to the green investment for Africa and are happy to partner with the ministry to engage with Kenyan youth and Sports to support the realization of climate change agenda,”
said H.E. Dr Al Naqbi.
