Bolt Introduces Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides, Enhancing Airport Pick-Ups

Corporate News

Ride-hailing giant Bolt has launched a new Flight Tracking feature designed to streamline airport pick-ups for travelers. The latest upgrade allows customers to sync their flight details directly when booking a Scheduled Ride, ensuring timely pickups—even in the event of delays or cancellations.

Now, when scheduling a ride from the airport, Bolt users can tap the ‘Schedule’ button on their app’s home screen, enter their arrival airport and destination, and then select the option to add flight details. Passengers can input their flight’s landing date, flight number, airline, or departure city to select their specific flight. Additionally, users can indicate how many minutes after landing they’d like to be picked up. From there, Bolt automatically monitors the flight and adjusts the pick-up time or cancels the ride—at no additional cost—if there are any changes.

Dimmy Kanyankole, Bolt’s General Manager for Kenya and Tanzania, emphasized the importance of the new feature in enhancing the airport experience.

“Today, Bolt is one of over 30 official ride-hailing partners at airports around the world, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport,” Kanyankole said. “Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides ensures our customers spend minimal time waiting at the airport, with guaranteed rides even during off-peak or high-traffic periods.”

The addition of Flight Tracking builds on Bolt’s recent enhancements to its Scheduled Rides service, which now allows bookings up to 90 days in advance. The company has also expanded its ride categories globally to better reflect local market needs.

Airports remain among the most frequented destinations on the Bolt platform, prompting the company to improve the end-to-end experience for travelers. Features like in-app photo directions guide customers from their terminal to the designated Bolt pick-up points, while airport signage helps make these areas easier to identify. At select locations like Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport, Bolt also offers pick-up codes that match riders with the next available driver, reducing wait times.

With these new tools and upgrades, Bolt continues its push to provide a smoother, more responsive travel experience for airport passengers worldwide.
