Kakamega Homeboyz FC secured all three points with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bandari FC in a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League match held at the refurbished Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa County.
The lone goal came in the second half, courtesy of Moses Shuayah, who capitalized on a defensive error by Bandari. His strike sent goalkeeper Brian Omondi diving the wrong way, sealing the win for the visitors.
Bandari had their chances earlier in the game, with Alfred Tanui and Nyamawi Beja both squandering opportunities to open the scoring.
The first half ended goalless, with Homeboyz managing three corner kicks compared to Bandari’s none. In the dying minutes, Homeboyz slowed down the pace, employing time-wasting tactics to preserve their lead.
Frustrated Bandari supporters left the stadium demanding a complete overhaul of the team’s technical bench.
In another fixture, defending champions Gor Mahia FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Sofapaka FC. The result saw Gor remain third on the league table with 47 points from 26 matches, one game in hand behind joint leaders Kenya Police FC and Tusker FC.
Sofapaka’s resilient performance denied Gor Mahia a chance to overtake Kenya Police at the top of the table.
