PAA Refutes Claims of Lobbying to Replace Tayari with Mulewa at KPA

The Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) has come out strongly to defend Senate Speaker Amason Jeffah Kingi against claims that he is lobbying for the removal of Benjamin Tayari as Chairman of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Board.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Secretary-General Kenneth Kazungu Tungule dismissed the allegations as baseless and malicious propaganda. According to Tungule, the claims that Kingi is pushing for Tayari’s replacement by former KPA Managing Director James Mulewa—who hails from Kilifi County—are unfounded.

“In fact, PAA would be proud to see Tayari’s contract extended for another term,

he stated.

Tungule accused certain political actors in Kwale County of attempting to portray PAA as an enemy of the local people. He was responding to a press statement issued earlier this week by a group of Kwale residents who claimed that Kingi was working behind the scenes to block Tayari’s reappointment.

The PAA Secretary-General, who also serves as Ganze MP, believes the accusations are a reaction to the party’s growing popularity in the region.

“These remarks are a weak attempt to discredit the party’s growing influence in Kwale ahead of the 2027 general election,”

he said.

Tungule further alleged that some politicians had gone as far as sponsoring a press conference and hiring civilians to spread the misinformation.

“They are panicking because PAA is quickly gaining traction in Kwale. But let them know—we are undeterred,”

he affirmed.

Tungule emphasized that no amount of propaganda will derail the party’s mission or undermine its growing support base in the county.
