In celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day, SGA Security extended a helping hand to the Pumwani Maternity Hospital in Nairobi with a generous donation of essential maternity supplies.
The contribution included newborn care packs containing diapers and toiletries aimed at supporting both mothers and their newborns. This initiative aligns with the global theme for International Women’s Day 2025, “#AccelerateAction,” which calls for immediate action to dismantle systemic barriers and biases that women face.
SGA’s donation is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to community service and its recognition of the importance of supporting vulnerable groups, particularly mothers in need.
Speaking at the event, Irene Opondo, Head of Sales and Marketing at SGA Kenya, emphasized the company’s dedication to contributing to global change and ensuring the protection of women’s and girls’ rights.
“At SGA, we acknowledge the vulnerability of many mothers, especially in the Pumwani area. Our mission extends beyond physical security; we also aim to support emotional well-being. This donation is a reflection of our values, and as we observe International Women’s Week, we join others worldwide in pushing for change that will ensure a brighter future for girls and women,”
Ms. Opondo stated.
The donation was warmly received by Pascaline Kimongu, the Head of Social Services at Pumwani Maternity Hospital, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the hospital.
“Pumwani Maternity Hospital serves a large number of mothers, many of whom come from vulnerable communities. This donation will ensure that these mothers receive vital care as they prepare to go home with their newborns, as well as aid those currently admitted who are unable to afford essential items such as diapers,”
Ms. Kimongu said.
As the largest maternity hospital in Kenya, Pumwani Maternity plays a critical role in providing maternal and child healthcare to women in Nairobi, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

International Women’s Day is an annual observance that highlights the challenges women face, from gender inequality and reproductive rights to violence and discrimination. Through such initiatives, organizations like SGA Security continue to advocate for positive change and support for women and girls worldwide.
