In a display of compassion and community commitment, Absa Kenya Foundation has pledged Ksh 3 million to assist vulnerable households across the country during the Holy month of Ramadhan.
This initiative is part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to contribute positively to society and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
The donations, which are being distributed in collaboration with local Muslim community associations and mosques, aim to reach over 800 households and support more than 2,400 individuals across Nairobi, Garissa, Kisumu, Isiolo, Bungoma, Eldoret, Murang’a, Kajiado, Oyugis, and Nkurumah.
These efforts will provide essential foodstuffs and supplies, ensuring that vulnerable families can break their fast with dignity.
During a recent donation event in Kibra, Absa Bank Kenya’s Chief Finance Officer, Yusuf Omari, emphasized the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to supporting those in need, not just during Ramadhan but throughout the year.
“We are honoured to be here today to share in the spirit of Ramadhan, which promotes generosity and compassion,”
said Omari.
“Just as we champion inclusivity in our banking solutions, we are equally dedicated to uplifting the lives of those who are vulnerable, especially during this blessed time of fasting.”
Sheikh Sukyan Omar, Deputy Chief Kadhi of the Shariah Board, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the recipients.
“We are deeply thankful to the Absa Kenya Foundation for its generosity, particularly during this holy period,”
said Sheikh Omar.
“The food donations will go a long way in alleviating the struggles faced by the less fortunate.”
To date, the Foundation has already distributed food aid in areas including Gilgil, Mukuru, Juja, Kariobangi, and Kawangware. The donations will continue until the end of Ramadhan, furthering the Foundation’s mission to support vulnerable communities during this holy month and beyond.
