The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr. Mohamed Amin, has lauded ongoing regional efforts to strengthen security cooperation across East Africa and the wider region.

He spoke on Friday during the official closing ceremony of the Crime Analysis Training Module at the National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA).

The intensive programme brought together 18 law enforcement officers drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Comoros, South Sudan, Mozambique, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.

The course is part of a broader push to enhance intelligence-sharing, investigative capacity, and cross-border collaboration in responding to organised crime and emerging threats.

In his remarks, Mr. Amin commended the European Union Action Against Crime (EU-ACT) for supporting capacity-building initiatives aimed at bolstering the region’s resilience against organised criminal networks, terrorism, and other transnational risks.

He challenged the officers to apply the skills and tools acquired during the training to improve investigative outcomes in their respective agencies.

The impact of this training will be measured not by the certificates awarded, but by the improvements you bring to investigative outcomes and institutional efficiency,”

said Mr. Amin.

The DCI boss stressed that regional security remains a collective responsibility, urging partner states to deepen cooperation to counter the evolving tactics of criminal enterprises.

Also present at the ceremony were the Commandant of the NCIA, Mr. Sospeter Munyi; the Head of the Political Section at the EU Delegation, Ms. Christina Barrios; the Director of Training, Mr. Adan Guyo; alongside other dignitaries from participating countries.
